Influencer Faces Flak for Performing Asanas at Golden Temple

The woman apologised for her act and removed the photos and videos from her Instagram account. She claimed that she was receiving death threats.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has filed a police complaint against a woman for performing yoga inside the premises of Amritsar's Golden Temple. The SGPC has also dismissed three of its employees from their jobs for negligence in duty and fined Rs 5,000 each.

The woman, Archana Makwana, is a practitioner of yoga. She came to Delhi on June 21, observed as International Yoga Day, to receive an award and also performed asanas on the premises of the Golden Temple.

Woman Apologises, Says She is Receiving Death Threats

The woman apologised for her actions and expressed regret. She stated that she has taken down all photos and videos related to the incident from her Instagram account. She mentioned that the controversy has led to her receiving death threats.

Gurdwara Panel Says Act Hurt Sikh Sentiments

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) condemned the incident, stating that performing asanas inside the Golden Temple premises hurt Sikh sentiments. They have taken legal action by filing a police complaint against Archana Makwana for her actions.

Additionally, the SGPC has dismissed three employees from their positions due to negligence in allowing such an incident to occur and fined them Rs 5,000 each.
